Product Description Sam and Dean Winchester seek out the person or force responsible for their mother's death and their father's disappearance while investigating strange
Call it Kolchak: The Night Stalker, The College Years or Buffy the Vampire Slayer for Boys, but the horror series Supernatural delivers some of the most satisfying small-screen scares in recent memory. The premise is deceptively simple: brothers Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki from Gilmore Girls and Jensen Ackles, both appealing) travel the darker corners of the American landscape in search of their father, who's gone missing while hunting the malevolent forces that lead to the death of their mother. In the course of their search, the siblings encounter a host of otherworldly creatures, including vampires, ghosts, and witches, as well as such distinctly American phenomena as the urban-legend favorite the Hook ("Hookman"), monsters from Native American mythology ("Wendigo"), and fearful figures from children's games ("Bloody Mary"). Supernatural's integration of elements from American pop culture and folklore, combined with its skilled cast and crew (creator/co-writer Erik Kripke delivered 2005's Boogeyman, while director/executive producer David Nutter is a veteran of The X-Files and Millennium), and better-than-average attempts at atmosphere and suspense place the series well above the other spookshow programs that arrived on networks at about the same time (Invasion, Night Stalker), and should hold considerable appeal for fans of frightful fare. The six-disc set contains all 22 episodes of the debut season, with commentary by Ackles and Padalecki on "Phantom Traveler" and Nutter, Kripke, and producer Peter Johnson on the pilot episode; two making-of documentaries (one on the show itself, and the other on its stars), as well as a brace of unaired scenes and a gag reel round out the set. For those with DVD-ROM capabilities, the set also includes a link to a web site which offers a sneak preview at season 2 and the pilot script, among other bonus features. --Paul Gaita

dvd tv series September 7, 2010 kisses0617 New as described. Luved the series! The only problem i have is that there is a big scratch on one of the discs and two of the episodes don't play correctly.
Superb! August 4, 2010 Robin I am ecstatic with the Blu-ray DVD of SUPERNATURAL'S first season and thrilled at the discount I got through Amazon. I will always deal with Amazon if given the chance!

A solid boxed set July 5, 2010 M. LACHANCE (Seattle,wa) This collection contains 22 episodes of the series Supernatural. The show is one that gets progressively better and is mostly(sans about 3-5) self contained episodes. These self contained episodes are for the most part decent. There are 2 that are outright terrible. Other than that though, there are about eight that are outright phenomenal. and the other 12 are as I said decent to good.
The acting in the show for the most part is rather rough. It gets better as the series goes but it is watchable. The direction on most of the episodes only serves to hide the low budget, but they do a good enough job to create what is the best horror television series on air. The writing except for the two terrible episodes is fairly strong.
The box set looks spectacular. filling most of the black levels so that they are no longer grainy as they were in their standard def counterpart. The visual is the reason to upgrade from the DVD. The extras are about an 8/10 on both and this set only contains one new feature that isn't really that amazing. But overall the features here are stronger than some of the future sets.
I'd recommend this set for fans of Blu Ray, fans of Horror television, and fans of entertaining mythologies.
By the way Jeffery Dean Morgan is as per usual amazing in this movie.
I urge you to check it out.
Creepy Fun June 28, 2010 SciFiChick (Fishers, IN USA) Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester are brothers who are on a journey to find their missing father, who was hunting the evil that killed their mother. Along the way, the brothers find themselves hunting the very things that their father faced including popular urban legends, vampires, ghosts, and other paranormal monsters.
A decidedly dark and grisly series, Supernatural appeals to a wide range of horror and thriller fans. Scary and violent, this series isn't for the faint of heart. Padalecki and Ackles are fantastic actors that are put in a shocking and bizarre situation each week, sometimes getting to play beyond their own characters. Each episode is a nightmare/freak-of-the-week, full of heart-pounding suspense and chills. And the stunning visual effects are impressive for a television series. Now each of the 22 episodes is available in HD, making the picture ultra-clear and ultra-scary.
Special Features Include:
- The Devil's Road Map: Interactive Map Guide to Season One's Urban Legends and Unusual Facts
- Paley Festival Panel Discussion Featuring the Cast and Creators
- Unaired/Extended Scenes
- Commentary on the Pilot by Series Creator Eric Kripke, Director David Nutter and Producer Peter Johnson
